Thursday Cricket was a bit more sleepy and cranky than usual, but Ryan and I figured that a week full of Halloween events was finally catching up with our littlest little. We didn’t think much of it, but yesterday, as Cricket was being a bit smarmy to me, I stuck my finger in her mouth and fished around — and there it was, her first tooth!
I swear my children teethe for months before their teeth actually see daylight. We’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting for Cricket to reach this milestone, and there were many times I was sure she had a tooth coming in. However, every time I’d feel in her mouth, I come up empty handed (or empty gummed, more appropriately). Even on Wednesday I had felt around unsuccessfully! But, on her first Halloween, we also celebrated her first tooth. (How fun!)
This morning, as we prep for a day of Gator hating and football, I tried to grab a picture of that little tooth. Of course, as is to be expected, my baby who smiles so much that her nickname is Smiles was tight-lipped. Go figure! I mean, it was almost comical how opposite she was responding to my behind-the-camera-mom-instructions. (Kids never do perform on command, do they? This whole free will thing sucks sometimes. ;) ) Oh, well. For a good laugh, here’s the best picture I could get of Cricket’s first tooth:
