Late last night, as the girls snuggled into my bed with just-shampooed hair and the faint traces of green paint behind ears, I was giddy. (And exhausted.) It’s been a month of madness and mayhem, and last night was the grand finale. We’ve been dressed up for weeks it seems, from church celebrations to trunk-or-treats to special days at school. There have been pumpkin patches and hay rides and black and orange decorations everywhere. I’ve found candy stuffed in the most random places, thrown away more one-lick lollipops than I can count. I’ve talked my responsible five-year old down off a ledge more than once from worrying that someone might accidentally eat a Cry Baby or War Head. We’ve thrown down with our friends and neighbors, rigged our house with fog machines and spooky projections, trailed sugared-up children through around sunset streets. I love Halloween, and this one was for the books. Thank you for the memories, Halloween 2017.
