Yule Log: chocolate sponge / semi-sweet whipped ganache chocolate

This is the first year the girls and I have attempted a traditional yule log, or, considering our francophile family, a buche de noel. (I blame The Great British Baking Show. I can’t help but wonder if I’m capable of making whatever I watch them bake!)
I may not be able to serve up a decent holiday meal, but if you invite me over, I’ve got dessert covered for sure. ;)
