In an effort to leave 2017 in 2017, we’ve been cleaning up and cleaning out all. week. long. Seriously, 2018 goals? OWN LESS. But prior to the madness of organizing + trashing, Christmas morning came and went in the usual tornado of excitement.
We did the usual toys + family breakfast, with a mix of old traditions and new: I left the girls Biscoff cookies in their stockings with a note from Yia Yia “from heaven” (they were one of her signature gifts), which was my way of bringing my mom into Christmas lightly. We tied a ribbon from the top of the stairs to each of the girl’s Santa gifts, which was an idea we gleaned from the movie “Arthur Christmas.” Emma Vance asked for a Glitterling, and Cricket asked for a Doc McStuffins Get Better Baby CeCe with the NICU cart. Ryan got the girls a John Deer car (which is slated to be suped-up soon), and I made a stage for performing and a clubhouse closet for the playroom. My dad and brother came over for breakfast (and to see what they each got the girls, haha), and they ate about 3 pounds of bacon between them like usual. ;) By noon, we were all Christmased-out, and the girls were practically making snow angels in the mess of their new toys. Oh to be a kid again! And now the girls are already talking about what Santa’s going to bring next year…go figure! ;)
