People ask me all the time what Ryan does. It’s hard to explain if you don’t live in “that world,” but to people who do, I can simply say, “He does video.” That simple phrase explains it all to a select few; to the rest, well…
There’s a multitude of things that fall under Ryan’s skill set, from producing to shooting to editing to script writing to live directing…and all sorts of other things that belong under the category labeled “video.” The best thing I can do to explain his job is to tell people that it’s complicated, but he’s really good at it. :) As E.V. grows up and has to explain to all her little friends “what her daddy does,” it’s going to be tough to figure out how she can explain it quickly and simply. I figure the best way to prep her for that inevitable question is to show her “what daddy does,” so we’re taking every reasonable opportunity to let her have her own versions of Bring Your Daughter to Work Day. Since Ryan’s volunteering at our church for a youth event this weekend, we took advantage of the opportunity and dropped by for a few minutes during rehearsal. All I have to say is that my husband is a multi-tasking superhero, I love watching them bond, and my daughter has a future in directing. She’s a natural… ;)
This post is wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
