So, if you’ve been reading along for a while now, you *might* remember my little mistake last year around this time: It was our inaugural Toddler Thanksgiving (read: a Turkey Day-themed playdate), and I was in charge of bringing the dessert. Genius that I am, I decided to bring store-bought cupcakes (innocent enough), and chose the ones with orange and yellow frosting. As you can imagine, (toddlers + dyed frosting?) madness ensued. It takes TRUE friends to not only be willing to overlook my faux pas but also to give me a chance to redeem myself — and, if I do say so myself, I totally did! This year cupcakes with white frosting, pecan pie and vanilla ice cream did the trick: No fuss (Thanks, Publix!), and no mess. Yay! Let’s count that a win for today, shall we? ;)
Besides my toddler-friendly dessert choices, this year we traded crafting for having our husbands there ;), celebrated with Jambalaya (How have I never had this delicious dish before??), explored our friend’s new house, and overall had a good time catching up with everyone. The kids ran around like wildlings and eventually ended up in fits of giggles while jumping on the bed — which I’m fairly certain Emma Vance initiated. (Wild child!) They played and ate and laughed, and since we had only one bloody lip amongst all the crazy kids, I’d call it a playdate success! Although I am feeling the Christmas itch already, today’s Toddler Thanksgiving definitely got me excited for fall’s grand finale this week, so bring on the turkey!
