Today Emma Vance’s new Pre-K class had a get-to-know-you playdate at the school playground. It was great, and everything went as expected — Cricket was the quintessential tagalong little sister per usual, the teachers/parents/kids were lovely, we saw a few familiar faces and a few new ones, the girls loved playing pirate and eating ice cream, and it was as hot as Hades out. We’re even more excited for real school to start now!
The more interesting part of our day, I have to say, happened before the playdate. In an effort to separate out the whole first-day-of-school pics and what-I-want-to-be-when-I-grow-up pics (which we combined last year), I decided to do the latter before our Pre-Pre-K event this morning. As I wrote out the chalk signs, I assumed Cricket would say “a mommy” and E.V. would say “an artist,” as they have consistently over the past few months. You can imagine my surprise, then, when I got their actual responses: a princess and a “give-outer of candy at Halloween.” I about died laughing.
My response, you ask? Well, Emma Vance’s shirt today said it perfectly, “You can do anything you decide to do,” — even be royalty, even be a purveyor of spooky sweets! ;) #careergoalz
